Privacy Policy

Who We Are

SPM Industries LLC operates Caleris (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use Caleris.

Information We Collect

When you use Caleris, we may collect the following information:
  • Your email address, used to create and manage your account.
  • Nutrition logs, including food items, calories, and macronutrients you record through the app.
  • Workout and training logs you record, such as the type of session, muscle groups, and duration.
  • Weight logs you choose to enter over time, and summaries Caleris derives from them.
  • Goals and preferences you configure, such as calorie targets, protein targets, activity level, and fitness objectives.
  • Coach and AI interactions, meaning the messages you send to and receive from the AI coach, together with the account and context information Caleris sends with a request so the coach can answer it. What that includes is set out under AI Coaching.
  • Meal photographs, when you choose to use the optional meal photo analysis feature.
  • Meal photo analysis results, meaning the foods and estimated nutrition derived from a photo, held temporarily while you review them.
  • Personalization memories, where you ask Caleris to remember something about you or tell it a lasting preference.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:
  • Provide personalized AI coaching tailored to your goals and logged data.
  • Enable core platform functionality, including nutrition tracking and progress views.
  • Manage your account, including authentication and session handling.
We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.

AI Usage Disclosure

Caleris uses artificial intelligence to generate fitness and nutrition coaching responses. These responses are generated by large language models and may not always be accurate, complete, or appropriate for your individual circumstances. AI-generated content is not a substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare provider, registered dietitian, or certified fitness professional.

AI Coaching

Caleris uses OpenAI to provide AI coaching and other AI-powered features. Using AI features is your choice.

When you use an AI feature, Caleris sends your message to OpenAI, together with the Caleris information relevant to that request, so it can understand what you asked and reply with coaching that fits you. Depending on what you ask and where you ask it, that information can include:

  • your food log and nutrition totals for the day;
  • your workouts and recent training context;
  • your weight and your weight history or summaries of it;
  • your goals and daily targets;
  • progress-derived information, such as recent trends Caleris has calculated;
  • your activity level and dietary context;
  • your recent Coach conversation;
  • your first name, on the web app;
  • your age and height, when you use Ask Caleris on the Goals page.

Where you ask Caleris to remember something, or tell it something that reads as a lasting preference, Caleris may also use OpenAI to identify the useful lasting facts in what you said. Any memory created that way is stored by Caleris and may be used to personalize future AI coaching where that feature applies.

AI features are optional. Logging food, workouts and weight, scanning barcodes, editing your goals and the rest of Caleris keep working without it.

You can withdraw your permission for future AI requests at any time using the AI controls in Caleris app Settings, or by contacting us at support@caleris.ai. Withdrawing stops Caleris from sending new AI requests. It does not recall or delete information that was already sent to OpenAI before you withdrew.

OpenAI processes this content in order to return a response to Caleris. OpenAI's handling of that content is governed by its own applicable policies, published at https://openai.com/policies. Caleris does not make representations about how OpenAI stores or uses content beyond what those policies say.

Meal Photo Analysis

Meal photo analysis is a separate, optional feature, and using it is your choice. It has its own permission: allowing AI coaching does not allow meal photo analysis, and allowing meal photo analysis does not allow AI coaching.

Caleris uses OpenAI to analyse meal photos. When you use the feature, the photograph itself is sent to OpenAI, together with any description you type with it, so it can work out what the meal is and estimate its nutrition.

Caleris does not intentionally store the image bytes of your meal photo in its application or database storage after the photo has been processed. The photograph does travel through Caleris server infrastructure and is transmitted to OpenAI for analysis, and Caleris cannot guarantee that no transient copy exists at every network, hosting or provider layer.

What Caleris does keep is the information derived from the analysis — the foods identified and the estimated nutrition — held temporarily as a candidate while you review it. A candidate you have not acted on stays active for about 60 minutes. Once a candidate has been confirmed, replaced or has expired, its record becomes eligible for cleanup after about seven days; that cleanup runs opportunistically as the feature is used, so it is not a guarantee that a record is removed at an exact moment.

Nothing is added to your food log from a photo until you confirm it. If you do confirm it, the resulting entry is an ordinary food log entry and is kept like the rest of your nutrition history.

You can turn photo analysis off at any time using the AI controls in Caleris app Settings, or by contacting us at support@caleris.ai. You can log meals by typing them or scanning a barcode without it.

As with AI coaching, OpenAI's handling of the photograph and description is governed by its own applicable policies, published at https://openai.com/policies. Caleris does not make representations about how OpenAI stores or uses that content beyond what those policies say.

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase infrastructure, which provides encrypted storage and access controls. Some data (such as food logs and goals) may also be stored locally in your browser via localStorage. We take reasonable precautions to protect the data you entrust to us.

Data Sharing and Service Providers

Caleris does not sell your personal data to third parties, and we do not share your information with advertisers. We share information with the service providers below only to operate Caleris, and only to the extent each one needs:

  • OpenAI processes the content of AI requests on our behalf — your message and the related Caleris information for AI coaching, and the photograph and any description for meal photo analysis. This is described in AI Coaching and Meal Photo Analysis, and it happens only for the features you have allowed.
  • Supabase provides our database and authentication, and therefore stores the account and logged data described above.
  • Vercel hosts and serves the Caleris web application, so requests to Caleris pass through its infrastructure.
  • Stripe handles web subscription payments and receives your email address and an internal account identifier. Card details are provided to Stripe directly and are not held by Caleris.
  • RevenueCat manages mobile subscription state and receives an internal account identifier and your purchase status.
  • Resend delivers transactional email, such as the welcome message, and receives your email address and first name.
  • Open Food Facts is queried when you scan a barcode. It receives the barcode number only — no account identifier, no logged data, and nothing that identifies you.

Cookies & Analytics

Caleris uses essential cookies required for authentication, session security, and basic application functionality. These cookies allow you to sign in, stay signed in across pages, and access account-protected features. They are set by our authentication provider (Supabase) and are necessary for core account functionality and secure access to Caleris.

Caleris does not currently use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or behavioral analytics tools. We do not build advertising profiles, monitor your behavior across websites, apps, or devices, or share your activity with third-party advertisers.

If Caleris begins using non-essential cookies or analytics tools in the future, we will update this policy and provide a clear way for you to give or withhold consent where required by applicable law before those technologies are activated.

Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute protection against unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure of your information.

Your Rights

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us. Upon a valid request, we will remove your personal information from our systems within a reasonable timeframe, subject to any legal obligations to retain it.

Data Retention and Account Deletion

We retain your personal data for as long as your Caleris account remains active so we can provide personalized coaching, progress tracking, historical insights, and related app features.

If you delete your account, we begin removing account-related personal data from our active systems, including profile information, goals, nutrition logs, workout logs, weigh-ins, daily logs, coaching-related records, any meal photo analysis results still held, your stored personalization memories, and your recorded AI permissions.

Deleting your account stops Caleris from sending anything further to our service providers, and removes the records we hold. It does not recall or delete information that was already sent to a service provider such as OpenAI before deletion, and Caleris does not control how a provider handles content it has already received.

Meal photo analysis has its own shorter lifetimes, described under Meal Photo Analysis.

Like most modern SaaS applications, limited backup copies may remain in secure backups for a short period after deletion. These backups are retained only for system recovery, security, and continuity purposes and are not used to provide active product features. Backup copies are typically deleted or overwritten within 30 days.

You may also request deletion of your account or personal data by contacting us at support@caleris.ai.

We may retain limited information when necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, enforce our agreements, or maintain the security and integrity of Caleris.
